OUR STORY

From 6 to 60 Children

The futura Montessori school first opened its doors in 2004.

For a whopping 6 children!

That was the result of a long journey by the founder, Renee Classen, who, after completing her university studies in Germany, first took the path to a regular German primary school.

Only to realize relatively quickly that this was not her path. The next step took her to a school for children and adolescents who needed individual support, especially in their social and emotional development.

This was what lead her to the work of Dr. Montessori.

A concept that she studies tirelessly – among other things in many advanced training courses – and taught at several institutions.

Until the desire arose, to open a school of her own, that would correspond precisely to her idea of Montessori education. And so, futura Montessori all-day school was born.

In 2008 the school was supplemented by the children's' house, and for the first time, the school accepted children from the age of 3 – an offer that was extremely well received.

The school has been officially recognized by the AMS (Association Montessori Suisse) for ten years. Today the school is an institution with more than 60 children (in Baar) and a branch in Zug (children's' house/toddler group) from March 2020.

The school also offers educators from other Montessori schools in German-speaking Europe Montessori training courses in the form of workshops and seminars, in cooperation with the futura school in Basel.

Training location

Due to the extremely high quality of teaching and the excellent reputation in the Montessori circles across Europe, futura is now a frequently used contact point for Montessori teachers in training – so-called interns – from Switzerland and abroad.

"When I watch Renée doing her presentations I can relate to the fascination of the children. And surprisingly enough they remember each and every word afterwards!"

- Parent

"How great that within the Montessori education the children don't generate fear of mathematics! No complicated terminology like addition or multiplication - but simply counting."

- Parent

"Renée was on a break when I got stuck with calculations. She took the time to help me despite being on a break."
